Once again we see all the old saws being put forth by Uri and Jim on why we should believe and not ask for proof.

Jim and Uri are both catalog magicians asking us to believe that they are the real deal. Chris did what he has always said he would do - he called their bluffs.

Now we get treated to the same old tired ad hominem and straw man arguments they put forth when they can't meet a simple challenge.

Sylvia And Montel - A question of Honor

Sylvia uses her usual cowardly hyperbole to fight back while a fellow military man asks Montel the hard question.

Sylvia is of course acting like any con artist will. And for that I give her credit for being true to form.

As for Montel to date he has not answered any questions about Sylvia.

If any here are familiar with career military officers one of the most difficult things that one can do is to question another officers honor. In times past officers were known to fight duels even during battles when there honer was questioned.

I hope Montel choses respect the code he has many times claimed to live by and respond.

That Wacky Guy Uri geller

Uri is at it again. In an attempt to be the ultiamate control freak he has been using what amount to empty threats to get sight like YouTube to remove videos he feels are less than flattering to him.- even those he produced himself but where his slight of hand is so poor that the trickery is obvious.

Fairy Mummy a Hoax - True Believers Still Believe its Real

Dan Baines who designs illusions for magicians built a model of a mummified fairy as an April Fools Day prank.

After posting photos to a web sight he received 20,000 hits a day from true believers including some warnings he was in danger for violating the fairies grave.

After exposing the hoax he continued to receive emails from believers who felt that the hoax story was itself a hoax.

Hollow Earth! Why dussint anyone ever say anything about the Hollow Earth anymore?

Yeah, the Hollow Earth. That's what I said. There was an excellent book by the puppeteer (!) Walter Kafton-Minkel, "Subterranean Worlds: 100,000 Years of Dragons, Dwarfs, the Dead, Lost Races, & UFOs From Inside the Earth", that came out in 1989, by the defunct house, Loompanics Unltd., Port Townsend, Washington.

Although he didn't himself buy into the whole Hollow Earth premise himself, the book was a profound and thorough opus to the field. Anyone ever read it? What are YOUR views on the topic?

Chuck Zukowski said he is used to skeptics deriding his belief in UFOs as silly escapism, but that's OK.

"There's more physical evidence that UFOs exist than there's physical evidence that Jesus Christ existed," the Colorado Springs resident and reserve sheriff's deputy said.

Zukowski was one of about 70 people, ranging from college students to retired professionals, who flocked to the Tivoli Student Center at the Auraria Campus on Saturday to talk about evidence of unidentified flying objects and convince skeptics.

No bug-eyed costumes with dangling Slinkys were in sight at the annual Colorado UFO Briefing. It was serious business.

"The evidence is simply overwhelming," said James Carrion, international director of the Mutual UFO Network, a national group that studies sightings.

Carrion used to flip through his mom's National Enquirer magazines when he was 11, sparking his interest in the topic. At that time, the tabloid actually used to hire real investigators to dig for information, he said.

The 38-year-old network is the world's largest UFO investigative group, with 2,500 members and 800 field investigators, Carrion said. Devouring thick books and attending seminars is a requirement to become a certified investigator.

Jefferson County resident Rick Nelson said he once saw three barrel-shaped objects fluttering in the sky over Arvada. One of the shimmering gold and copper things was about one-quarter mile away before it shot to the sky and out of sight, he said.

"Anyone who spends time researching it can't dismiss it," he said.

Colorado has a disproportionately high number of UFO sightings - about 5 to 12 a month out of a national 150, according to the Bellvue-based group.

It's unclear why, said Alejandro Rojas, the group's education director.

"We have a lot of cutting-edge (air) defense going on here," he said, explaining part of the sightings spike.

An annual UFO conference is set for Aug. 10-12 at the Denver Tech Center Marriott, where the negatives of McMinnville, Ore., UFO photos - pictures declared authentic by a group of University of Colorado scientists - will be shown to the public for the first time, Carrion said.

i do. but i don't subscribe, i get it at the bookstores. the May '04 issue is pretty good...as usual it contains items worth saving & keeping for historical interest. i dug the article about the (presumably fake) dragon in a jar of (presumably) formaldehyde. the cryptozoological articles always interest me. the feature on the recently deceased albino gorilla in captivity was touching. oh & i learned a lot from last issue's feature on August Strindberg's alchemical interest!

Fascinating New Theory regarding Near-Death Experience

As a life-long follower of all things Fortean I began researching a book about four years ago. It started as an examination of the phenomenon known as deja vu but I quickly found myself on an intellectual quest that Charles Fort would have been proud of. Now to my utter amazement not only has a publisher taken the book on but it is also selling very well world-wide (13,000 copies as of Feb 2007). I say that I started by trying to understand deja vu but by the end I seem to have come up with a simply staggering new theory regarding human consciousness and what happens to it at the point of death - and in doing so I seem to have explained not only deja vu but also lots of other things such as precognition, angelic assistance, possession etc. All really weird and even now I am not sure how I did it. Not only that but the 'hard' science in it really does seem to work. I was invited to lecture in Switzerland two weeks ago and at the end I was approached by a local guy. Apparently he was a particle physicist from CERN and he was very complementary about both my theory and the science behind it. All really very exciting. And now I want to share the idea with as many people as possible.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Anthony Peake and I am the author of a book with the rather clumsy(and ultimately misleading) title of 'Is There Life After Death? - The Extraordinary Science Of What Happens When We Die'. Unfortunately I lost the battle with my publisher because I wanted to call it the far more accurate 'Cheating The Ferryman'. However this does mean I can use this title for my third book. So why should this be of interest to this tribe?

Favorite Ghost Stories: What Makes Your Skin Crawl?

I love the Ghost & Horror Stories of Ambrose Bierce. One in particular gets under my skin unlike any other. It's called "The Moonlit Road" and it's a ghost tale in 3 different voices, that of a murdered wife, her desperate husband, and her confused son. It's written as factual account, and it just so happens that dear Ambrose was employed by William Randolph Hearst at the time for the SF Examiner. A Masterpiece. Nathaniel Hawthorne, Charlotte Perkins Gillman,
Shirley Jackson, Algernon Blackwood, H.P. Lovecraft are also masters of skin creeping. How About Yours?

An amateur photographer caught a meteor crashing through the night sky over Australia Sunday night! Witnesses described hearing the sonic boom as it penetrated the earth's atmosphere which also caused an intense burst of light!
Scientists said it was either the size of a car or a can of beer?! Cool!

Point Pleasant, WV

I added some photos I took during a quickie visit to Pt Pleasant, WV a couple of years ago. (For the uninitiated, Pt Pleasant was the site of the Mothman sightings in the late '60s, as well as a host of other strange phenomena.) Didn't have time to look around much, but I did visit the TNT area and took some pictures. The sun as just beginning to set, and I had to really push the film to get an exposure. I was worried that they wouldn't come out, but they did, and with a hazy, dreamy quality. I can't emphasize enough the sheer creepiness of the place. Maybe it was the dimming light, maybe it was the ground fog creeping in, but one got a sensation of *wrongness*. We just wanted to get out of there.
